East Coast Rallies 2008

The majority of rallies this vear can be daysailed from one location to include
members who have families or do not want to spend ihe night in a muddy creek. Some such as the Iken
Cliff rally are more difficult to daysail but this delightful location is excellent for camping ashore. Call me
for details and I can explain the options.

Walton Backwaters
HW Harwich Sat - 16:15
Possible launch site - Titchmarsh Marina (launch HW +/- 4Hrs).
Meet up at entrance to Titchmarsh on Sat mid morning
Evening at Titchmarsh Marina, Kirby Quay or alternatively at anchor (weather dependant)

May 10 - 11
River Deben
HW Harwich Sat - 16:15, HW Woodbridge approx 16:45
Possible launch sites - Felixstowe ferry, Waldringfield or Woodbridge
Meet up at Felixstowe or Bawdsey at Sat Lunch time
Evening at Waldringfield or Ramsholt - meal in the Maybush or Ramsholt Arms.

May 24 /-25
Iken Cliff (Rivers Ore and Alde)
HW Harwich Sat - 15:17, HW Orford Quay aprox 15:52, HW Snape Bridge approx 17:17
Possible launch sites - Orford Quay or Slauden Quay YC
Meet up at Orford Quay on Sat Lunch time
Evening at Iken Cliff - meal in the 'Plough and Sail'at Snape Bridge.

June 21
North Norfolk Coast daysail
HW Wells 08:30
Launch sites Brancaster or Wells HW+/- 21/2
The aim would be to launch about 9 am and sail along the coast recovering on the next high tide. This will be very weather dependant as there is little shelter if it is rough. Call for details.

June 28
River Medway daysail
HW Harwich 07:40, HW Queenborough 08:35
Launch at Gillingham and sail down river, return on the rising tide and recover late afternoon. Overnight
may be possible at the marina.

July 12 - 13
Roach/Crouch
HW Harwich Sat - 19:39, HW Fambridge 18:20
We have been invited to launch at Woodham Ferrers Yacht Club (HW +/- 3 Hrs) and in the
evening for a joint BBQ at the club
Alternative launch site - Burnham Marina (launch HW +/- 5 1/2 Hrs) or Pagglesham (all tide).
Meet up at TBD on Sat Lunch time.

July 26 - 27
River Orwell/Stour - Holbrook Rally
HW Harwich Sat - 18:13
Possible launch site - Suffolk Yacht Harbour (Levington Marina) (All tide launch).
Meet up at the Marina on Sat mid morning
Evening at Holbrook Creek or Holbrook bay, visit the Pub in Harkstead late evening.

August 2 - 3
River Blackwater / Colne
HW Harwich Sat - 13:06, HW Bradwell Quay / Wivenhoe approx 13:36
Possible launch site - Bradwell Marina (launch HW +/- 51/2 Hrs) or Tollesbury Marina (launch HW+/- 3 1/2).
Meet up at Mersea Stone on Sat Lunch time
Evening in Pyefleet Channel, Brightlingsea or marina.

Sept 6 - 7: Rutland Water
Launch at Rutland Sailing club or Whitwell
Sleeping on board is not possible but camping and accommodation are available

September 13 - 14: River Orwell / Stour
HW Harwich Sat - 11:44 - daysail to the head of the river and back
Possible launch site - Suffolk Yacht Harbour (Levington Marina) (All tide launch).
Meet up at the Marina on Sat mid morning
Evening at Levington Marina, meal in the Harbour Lights restaurant.
